(1910-1993)

Born in Punjab. Studied at Govt. School of Arts & Crafts, Calcutta. He became known for his water colours 'views' and mountainscapes. His travels brought for him much reputation initially as an artist, depicting peopie and places especially in the mountaneous areas in Bhutan, Sikkim and Tibet. Since 1942, his exhibitions, were held all over India. In 1947 he participated in the International Exhibition in London. 1951-52 exhibition at Rome, Oslo, and Stockhlm. Studied graphics in Paris, in 1952-53 and became Head of the Art Department Modern School, New Delhi. Between 1955 and 1974 he participated in major international exhibitions for graphics and paintings. In 1976, he was honoured by the Lalit Kala Akademi and elected a Fellow of the Akademi. He had several one-man shows with the Kumar Gallary, New Delhi since 1959. His film on Tibet, at the time of the Coronation of the present Dalai Lama is a rare gift to the world.
