Born in Bengal, Mazumdar studied at the Government School of Arts and Crafts, Calcutta, where he mastered the Western Academic style of painting. This style was adapted to a predominantly Indian subject matter, especially female figures, he was also an accomplished Landscape painter. Mazumdar's work may be seen in various public collections and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. |
